The Minister of Military Production is Discussing with Green Tech Egypt and OAK Holding Developments in Joint Cooperation in the Field of Waste-to-Energy

Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Morsi, Minister of Military Production, welcomed Mr Robert Valk, Founder and CEO Green Tech Egypt, and Mr Gareth Brown, Chairman of OAK Holdings, along with their delegation, to the ministry’s headquarters. The meeting aimed to discuss advancements in their joint Waste-to-Energy project.

Minister Morsi emphasised the importance of this collaboration, highlighting the political leadership’s commitment to waste management and the swift implementation of strategies to convert municipal solid waste into electricity. This initiative is expected to significantly improve environmental, health, and living conditions while providing economic benefits from the waste recycling process. The minister mentioned that the feasibility study for the Abu Rawash site in Giza Governorate project is nearing completion in cooperation with Green Tech Egypt and OAK Holdings.

Minister Morsi expressed the Ministry of Military Production’s dedication to utilising all available industrial, technological, and human resources to support the municipal solid waste management system. This effort is in collaboration with the Ministries of Environment and Local Development and the Arab Organization for Industrialization. The aim is to maximise the benefits of the waste generated daily in Egypt by converting it into smart energy solutions. The ministry is keen to transfer modern technologies across various manufacturing fields within its companies and units, working with both national and international waste management specialists to deepen local manufacturing, increase added value, reduce imports, and bolster the national economy.

Mr Robert Valk, Founder and CEO of Green Tech Egypt, discussed the executive steps and timeline for establishing waste-to-energy plants, noting that these plants will increase the added value of waste. He praised the extensive manufacturing, technological, technical, human, and research capabilities of the military production companies, which facilitate productive cooperation.

Mr Gareth Brown, Chairman of OAK Holdings, stated that his company will finance the joint-stock company responsible for establishing and operating waste-to-energy plants, in accordance with the cooperation protocol signed with the National Organization for Military Production, Green Tech Egypt, and OAK Holdings. He highlighted that this initiative will yield significant economic benefits for Egypt and contribute to sustainable development goals by generating electricity from solid municipal waste using modern technological methods.

Mr Mohamed Eid Bakr, media advisor to the Minister of Military Production and official spokesperson for the ministry, emphasised the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that this cooperation focuses on joint manufacturing and technology transfer for recycling waste and converting it into energy. He pointed out the ministry’s ongoing efforts to integrate with various ministries and organisations to support comprehensive and sustainable development strategies in the country.
