In April 2020 the Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA), a division of the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, invited Expressions of Interest for the delivery of Waste-to-Energy projects in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Renergy Group Partners LLC submitted an EOI and received confirmation from WMRA of the successful award and pre-qualification to Design, Build, Own and Operate (DBOO) three WTE processing facilities across Egypt, commencing with the first project in Abu Rawash, within the Giza district. The total investment for the first plant is estimated at 140 million USD.

Awarded by WMRA under a Design, Build, Own and Operate model, the Abu Rawash plant is the first of three WTE facilities, eliminating landfilling and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
