Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Morsi, Minister of Military Production, witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the National Authority for Military Production, Green Tech Egypt, and OAK Holdings. This agreement aims to establish a joint-stock company dedicated to building and operating waste-to-energy plants in Egypt.
Minister Morsi explained that this protocol continues the collaboration with Green Tech Egypt, which began with a Memorandum of Understanding signed on July 17, 2020. The goal is to create plants that convert municipal solid waste into electrical energy.
The Minister emphasised that this protocol is a significant step toward sustainable waste management solutions in Egypt. It aligns with the Ministry’s mission to utilize its industrial, technological, and human resources to manage municipal and solid waste effectively. The initiative aims to maximize the benefits of daily waste generation by transforming it into smart energy solutions.
Mr Robert Valk, Founder and CEO of Green Tech Egypt, highlighted that the joint-stock company will develop and operate plants to convert solid waste into electrical energy. This collaboration with the Ministry of Military Production is expected to enhance the added value of waste treatment in Egypt.
Mr Gareth R. Brown, CEO of OAK Holdings, stated that his company would finance the establishment of these plants, importing equipment and production lines that meet international standards. This cooperation with Green Tech Egypt aims to achieve significant economic returns for the state and contribute to sustainable development by generating electricity from municipal solid waste using advanced technologies.
Mr Mohamed Eid Bakr, media advisor and official spokesperson for the Ministry of Military Production, explained that this protocol is part of the ministry’s efforts to optimize its role in Waste-to-Energy projects. The collaboration with relevant ministries and entities aims to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in the new waste management system.
