General Mohamed Salah, Minister of Military Production, met with Mr Robert Valk, Founder and CEO of Green Tech Egypt & Renergy Group Partners, and Eslam Ramadan, company manager of Green Tech Egypt & Renergy Group Partners, at the ministry’s headquarters. This meeting is part of the periodic follow-up on the establishment of a waste-to-energy plant in Abu Rawash, Giza.
General Mohamed Salah emphasised the importance of waste recycling and waste-to-energy projects in preserving the environment and adapting to climate change, alongside the health benefits for citizens. The project aims to process 1,200 tons of municipal solid waste per day, generating 30 megawatts of electricity per hour. This initiative, part of a broader collaboration involving the Ministries of Military Production, Local Development, Environment, and the Giza Governorate, seeks to enhance sustainable development and improve living conditions in Egypt.
Mr Robert Valk expressed his eagerness to expedite the project, highlighting its potential to improve environmental and health conditions, reduce pollution, and create job opportunities. He emphasised the importance of overcoming any challenges to ensure timely implementation, noting that the project would bring advanced technology and industry to Egypt. This partnership between the public and private sectors aims to localise the production of waste management equipment within the Ministry of Military Production’s factories, including knowledge transfer in technology, operation, and maintenance.
Mr Mohamed Eid Bakr, media advisor to the Minister of Military Production, stated that the ministry’s collaboration with the private sector aims to transfer modern technologies and deepen local industrialization. Mr Emile Helmy Elias, Vice Chairman of the National Authority for Military Production, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
